The GE DS200VPBLG1ADD is a specialized VME Backplane Board engineered exclusively for the Load Commutated Inverter (LCI) series, serving as the core connectivity hub for the J2 and J3 sections of the LCI equipment’s card cage. Its primary role is to enable seamless signal transmission, stable power distribution, and modular integration of critical LCI components, making it indispensable for maintaining the reliability and efficiency of LCI systems in industrial applications like motor drives or grid-connected inverters.
A defining feature is its multilayer architecture, which physically separates analog and digital power planes. This design minimizes electromagnetic interference (EMI) between sensitive analog signals and high-speed digital signals, preserving signal integrity and ensuring consistent power delivery—critical for precise LCI control. Each slot on the backplane is equipped with bypass capacitors and power distribution components, further stabilizing voltage and preventing performance disruptions from power fluctuations.
The J2 section is tailored for key LCI boards, with a structured slot layout: it hosts the Digital Signal Processor Control Board (DSPC) in slot J1, an I/O Extender Board in slot J3, Gate Distribution and Status Boards (FCGD) in slots J5/J7/J9, an Exciter Board in slot J11, and two spare slots (J12/J13) for expansion. All slots except J1 have hardwired slot IDs at the P2 connector for easy identification, while digital bus signals terminate at slot ends to avoid signal reflection.
The J3 section addresses space constraints by managing external connections: it integrates Current Transformers (CTs) and their burden resistors for current monitoring, enables links to Voltage Scaling Feedback Boards for FCGD voltage feedback, handles backplane power connections, and provides stab connectors for flexible grounding—enhancing system safety and reducing EMI.
